Wildcats Edge Rockets in 31-30 Thriller, Honor Michael “Chico” Brooks

Wildcats Football vs. Neshoba Central

The Meridian High School Wildcats football team pulled out a heart-stopping 31-30 victory over the visiting Neshoba Central Rockets on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Ray Stadium.

Sophomore standout Cordarrin Wilson led the way for the Wildcats, scoring four total touchdowns to spark the offense in a game that went down to the final minutes.

The win evened Meridian’s record at 1-1 on the season.

During halftime the Wildcats paid tribute to longtime team manager Michael “Chico” Brooks with a video tribute and special performance by the MHS Band. The football team is wearing special decals on their helmets to honor Chico also. Brooks was a beloved figure on the sidelines and in the community passed away on August 22, 2025.

The Wildcats now turn their attention to another tough matchup as they prepare to host Starkville (1-1) on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Ray Stadium.
