At the Meridian High School Multipurpose Building, the future came into focus for two standout student-athletes on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, as they officially announced their next steps beyond graduation—each forging a path defined by commitment, discipline, and purpose.

Senior Lady Wildcats basketball player Mallory Mosley shared her decision to enlist in the Army National Guard, marking the beginning of her journey in service to her country. After completing basic training, Mosley plans to enroll in the University of Southern Mississippi. A dedicated four-year member of the Lady Wildcats program, Mosley has been a steady presence on and off the court, known for her work ethic, resilience, and team-first mindset. Her commitment reflects the same determination she brought to the game each season.

Also making his plans official was senior basketball player Joe Horne, who will continue his academic and athletic career at Meridian Community College, where he will play for the Eagles. Horne capped off an impressive high school career, averaging 9 points and 9 rebounds during his senior season. His performance earned him All-Region honors for two consecutive years, a testament to his consistency and impact on the court.

The ceremony brought together family, friends, teammates, and coaches—an enthusiastic crowd that reflected the support system behind both student-athletes. Applause filled the room not just for their accomplishments, but for the promise of what lies ahead.

As Mosley prepares to serve and Horne readies for the next level of competition, both leave behind legacies at Meridian High School that extend far beyond statistics—rooted in dedication, leadership, and Wildcat pride.
