MHS Football Coach, Shelton Gandy, announces resignation

Meridian, MS. – Shelton Gandy announced his resignation as the head football coach at Meridian High School to the MHS Football team and coaching staff during a meeting this morning. Gandy made the decision to step down to pursue other opportunities.

“I want to personally thank Coach Shelton Gandy for his dedication to our students, our coaching staff, and Wildcat Nation,” said Dr. Amy Carter, MPSD Superintendent. “We wish him the best as he continues to pursue opportunities beyond Meridian." 

“Coach Gandy has been an outstanding leader for Meridian High School, developing our Wildcat players both on and off the field. His dedication, integrity, and commitment to excellence have been second to none,” said Dr. Cheyenne Trussell, MPSD Athletic Director. “We are deeply grateful for his service to our program and our student-athletes. We wish Coach  the very best in his future endeavors.”

The Meridian Public Schools will immediately begin a search to find the next Head Coach for the football program. Dr. Cheyenne Trussell will oversee the process. The position announcement will be posted on the MPSD, MHSAA, and MAC websites.
