MHS' Dunn signs with Xavier University

Meridian, MS — A festive atmosphere enveloped Meridian High School today as the community came together to celebrate senior softball player KaMya Dunn, who officially signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Xavier University in New Orleans.
KaMya Dunn has been a pivotal player for the Lady Wildcats Softball team, boasting an impressive record of 111 career hits, 74 RBIs, and a batting average of .391. Her outstanding performance on the field earned her the title of Defensive MVP for the 2023-2024 season, highlighting her immense contribution to the team's success.
At the signing ceremony, Dunn expressed her excitement for the new opportunities awaiting her at Xavier University. "I'm incredibly grateful for the support from my coaches, teammates, family, and friends," said Dunn. "I am thrilled to join Xavier University, where I can continue to grow both academically and athletically."
Meridian High School's Head Softball Coach Mark Davis, praised Dunn for her dedication and achievements. "KaMya has shown exceptional talent and leadership throughout her high school career, and we have no doubt she will continue to excel at Xavier," Davis stated.
The event was attended by family, friends, teammates, faculty members, and local Xavier Alumni all eager to support Dunn as she embarks on this exciting new chapter. The signing ended with a traditional New Orleans Mardi Gras “second line” dance.
