Meridian High School Track & Field Shines at State Meet

MHS 7A Track Meet 2026

The Meridian High School Track and Field Team delivered an impressive performance on the state stage, showcasing speed, strength, and determination at the MHSAA 7A State Meet. Competing against the best athletes in Mississippi, MHS brought home multiple top finishes, medals, and even a new school record.

Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats was Zauria Clark, who captured the State Championship in the Girls 100-meter dash, cementing her place as one of the fastest sprinters in the state. Clark also earned a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash, adding to her standout performance.

Kyndal Arrington also had a strong showing, finishing second overall in the 300-meter hurdles and placing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at the 7A State Meet.

The Girls 4x200-meter relay team of Imoni Landrum, Makayla Boyd, Kyndal Arrington, and Zauria Clark earned second place overall while setting a new school record with a time of 1:41.4, marking a historic moment for the program.

Additional highlights for the Lady Wildcats include Makayla Boyd’s sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash.

On the boys’ side, Stephen Wilson led early efforts with a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles and was part of the third-place 4x100-meter relay team alongside Omyri Wade, Grant Hill, and Chad Boyd.

At the 7A State Meet, Chad Boyd turned in multiple strong performances, finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash (21.8 seconds) and fifth in the 100-meter dash. The boys’ 4x200-meter relay team of Micheal Winkfield, Omyri Wade, Grant Hill, and Chad Boyd secured a fifth-place finish.

Distance and mid-distance runners also made their mark. Cameron Mosley placed sixth in the 400-meter dash, while Bobby Naylor earned fifth in the 800-meter run. The 4x400-meter relay team of Cameron Mosley, Bobby Naylor, Jaqavious Turner, and Omyri Wade finished fifth overall.

In the longer relay events, the 4x800-meter relay team of Bobby Naylor, John Cotton, Jordan Mosley, and William Hughes secured a fourth-place finish, rounding out a strong overall showing for the Wildcats.

The Meridian High School Track and Field Team’s performance at the state level reflects the hard work, discipline, and commitment of its student-athletes and coaching staff. With multiple podium finishes and a new school record, the future remains bright for MHS Track & Field.
