Lady Wildcats Make History at Home

History was written under the lights on Monday, February 9, 2026, as the Meridian High School Lady Wildcats softball team played its first regular season games ever on the MHS campus. The long-anticipated moment marked a new chapter for MHS Athletics, bringing the sights and sounds of softball home for the very first time.

Before the opening pitch against Hattiesburg, Meridian Public School District Superintendent Dr. Amy Carter helped set the tone for the evening by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Her participation highlighted the district’s commitment to expanding opportunities for student-athletes and celebrating milestones that shape school pride.
