Meridian High School senior girls basketball standout BaLeigh Hedgemon has officially taken her talents to the next level. Hedgemon announced she will continue her academic and athletic career at Tougaloo College during a signing ceremony held Friday, January 30, 2026, in the MHS Multipurpose Building.

A key contributor for the Lady Wildcats, Hedgemon has made her mark on the court with consistent production and a sharpshooter’s touch. She is averaging 4.5 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 1.3 steals per game this season, while leading the team in three-point shooting with 23 made threes so far.

Lady Wildcats head coach Tre Collins praised Hedgemon’s journey and the impact she has made at Meridian High School.

“We are extremely proud of BaLeigh and all of her accomplishments. There is no doubt in my mind that she’s going to be successful in life beyond Meridian High School, but as we celebrate her signing to play at the next level, we want to remind her that Meridian will always be home! We know that BaLeigh is going to continue to represent herself, her family, and Meridian well and Tougaloo will be glad to know that she will do the same for them and their program,”  said Tre Colins, Lady Wildcats Head Coach.

Surrounded by family, teammates, coaches, and friends, Hedgemon’s signing marked a milestone moment and the beginning of a new chapter. As she prepares to join the Bulldogs of Tougaloo College, she leaves behind a legacy of hard work, leadership, and pride at Meridian High School.
