Hill wins first in weight class at MHSAA Powerlifting Competition

MHS' Dane Hill, center, takes first place in his weight class at the MHSAA State Championships.

The Meridian High School Boys and Girls Powerlifting teams competed in the MHSAA State Championships on Friday, April 6-Saturday, April 7, 2024, at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, MS.

The team is bringing back three state championship lifters.

Junior Dane Hill won first place in the 198lb. Weight Class lifting a total of 1,540 pounds for the meet.

Junior Ethan Wright placed second in the 148lb. Weight Class lifting 1,185 pounds for the meet.

Lady Wildcat Charlise Payne took home 3rd place in the Girls' 114lb. Weight Class lifting 625 pounds for the meet.
